Thanks to the excellent preparation we had together on Thursday morning, I managed to deliver the bad news to the guy (=he is going wrong, and we are all unhappy) and to turn this into a positive message (goal = to be on track again – action plan is defined). Initially he had problems with the message (emotional reaction), but I successfully changed his focus and to bring him in the good mood to listen to the delivered feedback and to take the positive aspect out of it.
