Anxiety hits over 264 million people worldwide
Anxiety is a mental disorder hitting over 264 million people every year worldwide. In the western world, 7,7% of females and 3,6% of males are affected by different forms like fear, panic phobia or any other related disorder.
Among all stress-related disorders, this one is the ‘hyperactive’ expression of stress, in contrast to depression and burn-out who are the passive expression of stress.
What different forms do exist?
Panic attacks
Chronic stress leads to people being suddenly overwhelmed by intense fears.
Phobia
Phobia is a type of fear response where people react in a traumatic way to some trigger. Most frequently those triggers are created by past traumatic events. Traumatic memory is reactivated when a trigger activates this memory of previous trauma.
Agoraphobia
People with agoraphobia get progressively more and more afraid or scared to leave their home. This is because they develop a fear of spacy places. Especially crowded spaces with lots of people make them avoid going there.
